ABOUT_POLYMER_CLAY
Polymer clay is oil-based and is NOT the same as the "air dried" clays (paper clays, porcelain clays and others) which are water-based and will harden when exposed to the air. Since there's no water in them, polymer clays won't ever "dry" without being cured, remaining pliable forever if stored away from heat. Craft porcelain clay is an air-dried clay that duplicates the look and feel of porcelain, without having to be fired in a kiln, or oven. It dries completely in about 24 hours, depending on the thickness of your project. Porcelain clay dries to a somewhat translucent white appearance and is smooth in texture. Applying watercolor before the piece is dry achieves a much more natural look. For an example of the durability of polymer clay see Linda Pavelka's "car repair" http://www.heartinhandstudio.com/news1.htm
